Description

Bring the authentic Finnish hydrotherapy tradition to your home, backyard, or commercial retreat with the Canadian Timber Tranquility MP Barrel Sauna by Dundalk Leisurecraft. Handcrafted in Canada from sustainable Eastern White Cedar, the Tranquility MP combines extended circular barrel architecture with an integrated front porch cooling alcove. The cylindrical barrel contour naturally facilitates continuous convective airflow—rising heat rolls smoothly along the curved cedar walls, preventing thermal pooling at the ceiling and heating the cabin faster and more evenly than standard rectangular rooms. Designed to comfortably accommodate 4 to 6 bathers, it provides an expansive setting for daily contrast therapy, deep athletic recovery, cardiovascular conditioning, and family relaxation.

The Tranquility MP is precision-milled from 100% Canadian Grade-A Eastern White Cedar, celebrated for its tight, refined knots, light organic hues, and natural cedar oils that resist rot, decay, and insect damage across extreme freeze-thaw climates. Every unit is built using continuous single-stave bevels that interlock tight without tenon joints along their length, held firmly by heavy-duty T6061 rust-resistant marine aluminum compression bands. Outfitted with deep 20-inch wide cedar benches, 5 mm bronze tempered safety glass, and versatile dual heating support (electric or wood-burning), the Tranquility MP is an all-season outdoor sanctuary engineered for decades of performance.

  • Integrated Front Porch (MP Feature): Creates an outdoor cooling-off alcove, bench rest area, and clean entryway transition before entering the hot room.

  • Convective Thermal Flow: Cylindrical barrel architecture glides steam and radiant heat evenly from top to bottom, cutting preheating time and eliminating cold floor drafts.

  • 100% Canadian Craftsmanship: Sustainably harvested from certified Canadian lumber mills in Ontario and British Columbia.

  • Solid Single-Stave Bevels: Continuous full-length beveled staves interlock seamlessly without mid-wall tenon seams, maximizing insulation and structural rigidity.

  • Marine-Grade Aluminum Compression Bands: Canadian-made T6061 rust-resistant aluminum bands expand and contract naturally with changing seasonal humidity while maintaining structural tension.

  • Deep 20-Inch Benches: Generous 20-inch wide cedar benches provide ample room to sit tall or stretch out fully.

  • Architectural Safety Glass: 5 mm bronze tempered single-pane glass on doors and double-pane half-moon windows balances thermal insulation, privacy, and exterior landscape views.

  • Dual Heating Compatibility: Supports high-output 9 kW (or 7.5 kW) electric sauna heaters as well as heavy-duty wood-burning stoves (size 14–20).

  • 5-Year Craftsmanship Guarantee: Backed by Dundalk Leisurecraft’s 5-year limited manufacturer warranty against craftsmanship and material defects.

Shipping & Assembly

Assembly Instructions PDF

Assembly Guidelines

  • Pre-Fabricated Kit Assembly: Precision-beveled interlocking cedar staves, pre-assembled circular front and back wall panels, solid cedar support cradles, and pre-hung bronze tempered door assemblies allow a straightforward DIY setup.

  • Crew & Tools Needed: Straightforward assembly requires 2 capable adults. Standard household tools needed include a cordless drill/driver, level, rubber mallet, adjustable 3/4-inch wrench (for bands), and a stepladder.

  • Foundation Requirements: Must be installed on a firm, level surface capable of supporting heavy static weight (poured concrete slab, heavy-timber deck, or compacted leveled patio pavers). Solid cedar support cradles elevate the barrel body off the ground to ensure clear under-body water drainage.

Freight Delivery & Packaging Profile

  • Protective Crate Packaging: Ships banded inside a heavy-duty, weather-resistant timber shipping crate.

    • Crate Dimensions: 120" L x 45" W x 34" H (305 cm x 114 cm x 86 cm)

    • Packaged Crate Weight: 1,444 lbs (655 kg) (weight varies slightly based on selected heater package and rock volume).

  • Freight Carrier & Liftgate Notice: Because this crate measures 120 inches (10 feet) in length, standard commercial freight carrier liftgates (maximum 84 inches) cannot safely lift or lower it. Delivery is strictly curbside freight via tractor-trailer. Curbside offloading must be arranged by the customer via one of the following methods:

    1. An on-site forklift, skid steer, or tractor equipped with fork extensions lifting from the end of the crate.

    2. A local flatbed tow-truck service hired to transfer the crate from the regional freight terminal directly to your property.

    3. De-crating the individual bundles directly from the trailer bed by hand with an on-site crew during the delivery appointment window.

  • Delivery Appointments & Inspection: The regional terminal will call prior to delivery to schedule an appointment window. Inspect all external crate surfaces thoroughly before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL). If packaging punctures or wood scuffs are present, write "Crate arrived damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" on the driver’s receipt and photograph the crate before unpacking.

Care & Maintenance

Before Each Use & Daily Routine

  • Pre-Session Check: Confirm air intake and outlet vents remain completely unobstructed. Inspect heater stones to ensure proper rock airflow and check that the heater area or firebox is clear of towels, buckets, or combustible items.

  • Towel Usage: Always place a towel over the cedar benches during sessions to absorb body perspiration and protect the raw wood grain.

  • After Each Session: Prop the sauna door open to allow fresh air circulation and vent out residual moisture. Wipe down benches, backrests, and high-contact areas with a clean, dry towel. Remove wet towels and clothes, and never leave standing water inside the cabin.

Regular Cleaning & Cedar Care

  • Periodic Wash: Clean the interior periodically based on usage frequency using warm water and a mild non-abrasive soap with a soft cloth or non-abrasive brush; wipe away soap residue and allow the room to dry thoroughly with the door open. Lightly sweep or vacuum beneath benches to remove accumulated dust, hair, or debris.

  • Light Sanding: For minor sweat rings, surface blemishes, or rough spots, lightly buff the cedar using fine-grit sandpaper, always moving parallel to the wood grain.

  • Interior Wood Finish: Interior cedar is left natural and untreated. Never apply conventional exterior stain, paint, or varnish to the interior walls, ceiling, or benches. If wood conditioning is desired, use only non-toxic oils specially approved for sauna interiors (such as Livos Saunaoil).

  • Exterior Wood Treatment: Exterior cedar can be left untreated to weather gracefully into an organic silver-gray patina without sacrificing durability, or treated with a high-quality penetrating exterior wood finish applied to clean, dry wood to maintain its original warm cedar tone.

  • What to Avoid: Do not use bleach, chlorine, abrasive scouring pads, or pressure washers on cedar wood.

Barrel Bands & Seasonal Maintenance

  • Aluminum Band Tension: Cedar naturally expands with moisture and contracts during dry heat. Inspect the compression bands within the first month of setup and periodically thereafter. Tighten loose bands using a 3/4-inch wrench so they remain secure without over-tightening, allowing the cedar staves to expand naturally against the bands.

  • Spring & Fall Check: Inspect exterior cedar, roofing, doors, hinges, handles, and vents; verify floor drainage channels remain clear and clear any accumulated debris.

  • Winter Care: Engineered for year-round outdoor use, including harsh Canadian winters. Remove heavy snow accumulation from the roof curve, keep the entrance clear of snow and ice, ensure vents remain open, and never use sharp metal tools to chip ice off cedar surfaces.

Materials
  • Eastern White Cedar Framing: Milled from sustainably harvested Grade-A Eastern White Cedar sourced from certified mills in Ontario and British Columbia. The tight-knot timber offers high natural insulation and inherent resistance to rot, decay, and insect damage without chemical pressure treatments.

  • Solid Single-Stave Bevel Profiles: Full-length continuous staves lock together seamlessly without tenon joints along their length, creating an airtight joint seal and superior structural integrity.

  • T6061 Marine Aluminum Bands: Canadian-manufactured T6061 marine-grade aluminum bands provide high tensile strength and complete rust immunity against rain, snow, and coastal air.

  • Architectural Safety Glass: Features 5 mm bronze tempered single-pane door glazing and double-pane half-moon window glass, balancing thermal retention, impact strength, and softened natural light.

  • Solid Cedar Base Cradles: Heavy, solid cedar support cradles elevate the barrel structure off wet ground, keeping base staves protected from standing water.

  • Small Items & Accessories: Standalone accessory orders carry a flat shipping rate of $55.

  • Alaska, Hawaii & Remote Locations: Shipping is not covered under standard free freight; custom freight quotes are required prior to dispatch. Remote regions, limited-access routes, and island deliveries may incur additional carrier surcharges.

  • Cross-Border Clearance: Shipments originating from Canadian manufacturing facilities include all standard customs clearance and border handling.

Freight Delivery & Curbside Details

  • Curbside Delivery Only: Freight shipments are delivered strictly to the curbside or the end of your driveway via standard commercial freight carriers (typically 53-foot 18-wheel tractor-trailers). Drivers do not bring crates into driveways, backyards, or homes, nor do they assist with unpackaging or assembly.

  • Site Accessibility: Customers must verify that a full-sized 18-wheel semi-truck can legally and safely access the street, reach the property, and turn around.

  • Delivery Appointments: The freight carrier contacts the consignee prior to delivery to schedule an appointment window. A timely response is mandatory to prevent carrier holding penalties.

  • Delivery Delays & Storage Fees: If delivery is delayed due to an unresponsive recipient, inability to unload, or scheduling conflicts, terminal storage charges of $35 per day will be assessed and billed to the customer.

Unloading Responsibilities & Liftgate Policy

  • Crates 84 Inches or Shorter: Liftgate service is generally available to lower the crate from the truck bed to curbside level.

  • Crates Exceeding 84 Inches: Standard liftgates cannot accommodate crates over 7 feet long. Customers are solely responsible for offloading the crate from the truck bed.

  • Required Offloading Arrangements: For oversized crates, the customer must arrange one of the following prior to delivery:

    • A forklift or mechanical loader equipped with forklift fork extensions, lifting strictly from the crate end.

    • A local tilt flatbed tow-truck service to transfer the crate from the carrier's regional freight terminal to your driveway. (Factory-assisted tilt tow-truck arrangements incur a standard $1,450 fee).

    • A capable crew on-site to de-crate or lift components individually from the truck bed within the carrier’s allotted delivery window.

Delivery Address Changes

  • Prior to Dispatch: Address adjustments submitted before an order leaves the manufacturing facility are processed at no additional cost.

  • After Dispatch / In-Transit: Rerouting or altering the destination address once the crate has left the factory incurs a mandatory $350 carrier rerouting fee.

Damage, Shortages & Freight Return Protocol

  • Crate Inspection at Curbside: All packaging must be thoroughly inspected before signing carrier paperwork.

  • Visible Damage on Arrival: If external damage, crushed corners, or open packaging is observed, you must accept the delivery and write:

"Crate arrived open/damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" clearly on the driver’s Bill of Lading (BOL).

  • Reporting Window: Detailed photos of the packaging, labels, and all damaged parts must be submitted to customer support within 30 days of receipt to qualify for no-charge component replacements under the shipping warranty.

  • Unauthorized Refusals: Deliveries refused without written authorization will be classified as a rejected delivery. Refused shipments are subject to a 15% restocking fee plus all applicable return freight, storage, and reconsignment costs.
