Bring the authentic Finnish thermal tradition to your outdoor living space with the Canadian Timber Serenity Barrel Sauna by Dundalk Leisurecraft. Handcrafted in Canada from sustainable Eastern White Cedar, the Serenity features classic curved barrel architecture engineered to optimize continuous convective airflow. Rising heat glides naturally along the rounded walls, preventing thermal pooling at the ceiling and warming the room more efficiently than standard rectangular designs. Sized to comfortably seat up to 5 bathers, it creates an inviting setting for daily hydrotherapy, deep relaxation, cardiovascular conditioning, and family wellness.
The Serenity is precision-milled from sustainable Eastern White Cedar, showcasing tight natural knots, lighter wood grain, and natural oils that resist moisture, insects, rot, and severe seasonal freeze-thaw cycles. Every barrel body uses full-length solid single-stave bevels that interlock tight without tenon joints along their length, secured with heavy-duty T6061 rust-resistant marine aluminum compression bands. Fitted with generous 20-inch wide benching, 5 mm bronze tempered safety glass, and versatile dual heating support (electric or wood-fired), the Serenity is an all-season backyard sanctuary engineered for decades of performance.
-
Convective Barrel Air Circulation: Cylindrical contour circulates steam and heat evenly from top to bottom, cutting preheating time and eliminating stagnant cold air pockets.
-
Sustainable Eastern White Cedar: Sourced exclusively from certified sustainable lumber mills in Ontario and British Columbia, celebrating authentic Canadian craftsmanship.
-
Single-Stave Beveled Wall Design: Continuous full-length beveled staves lock together seamlessly without weak tenon joints along the body, maximizing insulation and structural rigidity.
-
T6061 Marine-Grade Compression Bands: Built with rust-resistant Canadian aluminum bands that accommodate natural cedar expansion and contraction across humid summers and harsh winters.
-
Spacious 20-Inch Benches: Deep 20-inch wide cedar benches provide ample room to stretch out or sit upright comfortably.
-
Bronze Tempered Glass: 5 mm heavy bronze tempered single-pane glass on doors and windows provides thermal insulation, privacy, and safety.
-
Dual Heating Options: Fully compatible with high-capacity 7.5 kW electric sauna heaters or high-output wood-burning stoves (size 14–16).
-
5-Year Craftsmanship Guarantee: Backed by Dundalk Leisurecraft’s 5-year limited manufacturer warranty against craftsmanship and structural defects.

Assembly Guidelines
-
Pre-Fabricated Kit Assembly: Interlocking tongue-and-groove beveled staves, pre-assembled front and back wall panels, solid cedar support cradles, and pre-hung bronze tempered glass door assemblies allow straightforward DIY setup.
-
Crew & Tools Needed: Requires 2 adults. Standard tools required include a cordless drill, level, rubber mallet, adjustable 3/4-inch wrench (for bands), and a stepladder.
-
Base & Foundation: Install on a firm, flat, level foundation capable of supporting heavy static weight (concrete pad, reinforced timber deck, or compacted leveled patio pavers). Solid cedar support cradles elevate the staves to keep water draining freely away from the base.
Freight Delivery & Packaging
-
Protective Crate Packaging: Ships in a heavy-duty, weather-resistant timber shipping crate.
-
Crate Dimensions: 98" L x 45" W x 34" H (244 cm x 114 cm x 86 cm)
-
Packaged Crate Weight: 1,113 lbs (505 kg) (weight varies slightly depending on selected heater model and stones).
-
-
Freight Carrier & Liftgate Requirements: Because this crate measures 98 inches in length, standard 84-inch carrier hydraulic liftgates cannot safely offload it. Delivery is strictly curbside freight via tractor-trailer. Unloading must be coordinated via one of the following methods:
-
An on-site forklift or tractor with fork extensions.
-
A local flatbed tow-truck service arranged to transfer the crate from the regional freight terminal to your property.
-
De-crating the individual components directly from the truck bed by hand with a capable on-site crew during the delivery appointment window.
-
-
Delivery Appointments & Inspection: The regional freight terminal calls prior to delivery to schedule an appointment window. Inspect external crating thoroughly before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL). If packaging scuffs or punctures are visible, note "Crate arrived damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" directly on the driver’s receipt and photograph the crate.
Before Each Use & Daily Routine
-
Pre-Session Check: Confirm air intake and exhaust vents remain unobstructed for adequate ventilation. Check that heater stones are properly positioned without excessive settling, and inspect the heater area/firebox to ensure it is free from towels, buckets, or melting hazards.
-
Towel Usage: Always place a towel over the benches to absorb body oils and perspiration and protect the raw cedar wood.
-
After Each Session: Prop the sauna door open to allow fresh air circulation and vent out residual moisture. Wipe down benches, backrests, and high-contact areas with a clean, dry towel. Remove wet towels or garments, and never leave standing water inside the cabin.
Regular Cleaning & Cedar Care
-
Periodic Wash: Clean the interior periodically based on usage frequency using warm water and mild, non-abrasive soap with a soft brush or cloth; rinse lightly and allow the room to dry thoroughly with the door open. Lightly vacuum or sweep beneath benches to remove accumulated dust or debris.
-
Light Sanding: For minor sweat rings, surface blemishes, or rough spots, lightly buff the cedar with fine-grit sandpaper, always moving in the direction of the wood grain.
-
Interior Wood Finish: Interior cedar is left raw and natural. Never apply conventional exterior stain, paint, or varnish to the interior walls or ceiling. If conditioning is desired, use only non-toxic oils specially approved for sauna interiors (such as Livos Saunaoil).
-
Exterior Finish & Weathering: Exterior cedar can be left untreated to weather gracefully into an organic silver-gray patina without affecting wood durability, or sealed with a breathable, penetrating exterior wood finish to maintain its original warm cedar tones.
-
What to Avoid: Do not use bleach, chlorine, abrasive scouring pads, or pressure washers on the cedar interior.
Barrel Band Adjustments & Seasonal Care
-
Aluminum Band Maintenance: Cedar naturally expands with wet weather and contracts during dry heat. Inspect the compression bands within the first month of setup and periodically thereafter. Tighten loose nuts using a 3/4-inch wrench so bands stay secure without overtightening, allowing the staves to expand naturally against the bands.
-
Spring & Fall Check: Check doors, hinges, and handles; clear intake and exhaust vents; inspect heater rock condition; and ensure floor drain channels remain clear.
-
Winter Care: Built to perform through extreme Canadian winters. Remove heavy snow accumulation from the roof curve, ensure lower ventilation grates stay clear of snowbanks, and do not use sharp metal tools to chip ice off cedar staves.
-
Eastern White Cedar Framing: Milled from sustainably harvested Canadian Eastern White Cedar from British Columbia and Ontario mills. Naturally repels rot, decay, fungi, and insect infestations without chemical pressure treatments.
-
Solid Single-Stave Bevels: Precision tongue-and-groove staves run continuous along the barrel circumference without tenon seams or finger joints, providing an airtight thermal barrier and structural strength.
-
T6061 Marine Aluminum Compression Bands: Canadian-manufactured T6061 aircraft/marine-grade aluminum bands provide high tensile strength and rust immunity against harsh weather and road salt.
-
Architectural Safety Glass: Door and window panels are made from 5 mm bronze tempered single-pane safety glass, balancing thermal retention, natural light softening, and thermal shock resistance.
-
Solid Cedar Base Cradles: Heavy, solid cedar support cradles elevate the barrel structure off wet ground, keeping base staves protected from standing water.
The Serenity Barrel Sauna features a 222 cu. ft. interior room volume, pairing with 7.5 kW electric sauna heaters or compact wood-burning stoves (size 14–16).
