Description

Elevate your backyard, luxury estate, or commercial retreat with the Canadian Timber Avalon Sauna by Dundalk Leisurecraft. Purpose-built for discerning wellness seekers, the CT Avalon merges time-honored Canadian woodworking with bold, contemporary Scandinavian architecture. Defined by a clean geometric silhouette and a standing seam black metal roof with a generous extended overhang, the Avalon commands a modern architectural presence while creating an authentic, high-temperature thermal haven designed for athletic recovery, detoxification, and stress relief.

The focal point of the Avalon cabin is its spacious three-tier bench system. Because heat naturally rises within an outdoor sauna room, multi-level seating unlocks superior thermal versatility:

  • Upper Tier: Positioned near the ceiling for intense convective heat and full löyly steam cycles, elevating bathers' feet and body into the warmest zone.

  • Middle Tier: Offers a balanced, moderate heat profile ideal for relaxed, extended sessions with family and friends.

  • Lower Tier: Provides gentler heat for cooling down or newcomers adjusting to thermal therapy.

Every Avalon is precision-crafted from 2-3/4" thick double-groove solid Eastern White Cedar log walls. Sourced sustainably from certified mills in Ontario and British Columbia, this substantial solid-log construction delivers structural rigidity, natural resistance to decay and insects, and high thermal mass retention across sub-zero Canadian winters and humid summers. A large 5 mm bronze tempered glass front window and matching entrance door flood the interior with natural daylight while framing outdoor scenery. Engineered for maximum site flexibility, the front door can be installed on either the left or right side during assembly, and the cabin seamlessly accommodates high-capacity 9 kW electric heaters or authentic wood-burning stoves.

  • Spacious Three-Tier Bench Architecture: Maximize heat stratification with three distinct elevation levels for customized thermal intensity and ergonomic leg elevation.

  • 2-3/4" Double-Groove Cedar Log Walls: Heavy solid Eastern White Cedar interlocking log walls maximize heat retention and structural stability without artificial insulation.

  • Architectural Standing Seam Roof: Modern black metal roof with extended overhang creates a clean 10' x 10' overall footprint that protects timber from weather exposure.

  • Large Bronze Tempered Glazing: 5 mm heavy bronze tempered single-pane safety glass softens glare, provides privacy, and retains radiant heat.

  • Reversible Door Placement: Reversible door framing allows installation on either the left or right side during assembly to match your site layout.

  • 100% Sustainably Sourced Canadian Timber: Handcrafted in Canada using sustainably harvested timber from certified Ontario and British Columbia mills.

  • Dual Heating Compatibility: Fully rated for high-output 9 kW electric sauna heaters or traditional wood-burning stoves (size 14–16).

  • 5-Year Craftsmanship Guarantee: Backed by Dundalk Leisurecraft’s 5-year manufacturer warranty against craftsmanship and structural defects.

Shipping & Assembly

Assembly Instructions PDF

Assembly Guidelines

  • Pre-Fabricated Interlocking System: The cabin is engineered with precision-milled 2-3/4" double-groove log wall timbers that slide together securely, accompanied by pre-hung bronze glass door assemblies and pre-cut roof components.

  • Reversible Layout: The front door frame can be positioned on either the left or right side during setup to tailor flow and accessibility to your deck, patio, or landscape orientation.

  • Crew & Tools Required: Assembly requires a minimum of 2 capable adults. Standard household tools include a cordless drill/driver, level, rubber mallet, measuring tape, adjustable wrench, and ladder.

  • Foundation Requirements: Must be installed on a firm, flat, and level foundation capable of supporting heavy static loads (e.g., a reinforced poured concrete pad, heavy timber deck, or compacted foundation pavers).

Freight Delivery & Packaging Profile

  • Protective Crate Packaging: Ships banded and packaged in a heavy-duty, weather-resistant shipping crate.

    • Crate Dimensions: 120" L x 45" W x 60" H (305 cm x 114 cm x 152 cm)

    • Packaged Crate Weight: 1,883 lbs (854 kg) (weight varies slightly based on selected heater package and stone volume)

  • Freight Carrier & Curbside Offloading Notice: Because this freight crate measures 120 inches (10 feet) in length, standard carrier hydraulic liftgates (which max out at 84 inches) cannot safely lift or lower it. Delivery is strictly curbside freight via 53-foot tractor-trailer. The customer is responsible for coordinating curbside offloading via one of the following methods:

    1. An on-site forklift, skid steer, or tractor equipped with fork extensions lifting from the end of the crate.

    2. Arranging a local flatbed tow-truck service to transfer the crate from the regional freight terminal directly to your property.

    3. De-crating the individual wood bundles and panels directly from the truck bed by hand with an on-site crew during the scheduled delivery appointment window.

  • Delivery Appointments & Inspection: The regional freight carrier will contact you in advance to schedule a delivery appointment window. Thoroughly inspect all exterior crating prior to signing the Bill of Lading (BOL). If external scuffs, carton punctures, or crate damage are observed, sign the paperwork as "Crate arrived damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" and take photos before unpacking.

Care & Maintenance

Before Each Use & Daily Routine

  • Pre-Session Check: Confirm that air intake and outlet vents remain clear and unobstructed to ensure continuous ventilation.

  • Heater Area & Stones: Check that heater stones are properly positioned without settling tightly, and verify that the heater area and firebox are free of personal items, towels, or combustible materials.

  • Towel Usage: Always place a clean towel on cedar benches to absorb perspiration and protect the raw wood grain.

  • After Each Session: Prop the door open for 15–30 minutes following use to allow moisture to vent and fresh air to dry the room. Wipe down benches, backrests, and glass with a clean, dry towel. Never leave wet towels, garments, or standing water inside.

Regular Cleaning & Cedar Care

  • Interior Cedar Finish: The interior cedar is left natural and untreated. Over time, exposure to heat and löyly will naturally darken the wood. Never apply conventional exterior stain, paint, or varnish to the sauna interior. If interior conditioning is desired, use only non-toxic oils approved for sauna interiors (such as Livos Meldos Sauna Oil).

  • Periodic Wash: Clean the interior periodically using warm water and a mild soap with a soft cloth or non-abrasive brush; wipe away soap residue and allow the cabin to dry thoroughly with the door open. Lightly vacuum or sweep beneath the tiered benches to remove accumulated dust and debris.

  • Light Sanding: For minor sweat rings, surface blemishes, or rough spots, lightly buff the cedar with fine-grit sandpaper, always moving in the direction of the wood grain.

  • Exterior Wood Treatment: Exterior cedar can be left untreated to weather into an organic silver-gray patina without reducing natural wood durability. To maintain the original warm amber wood tones, apply a high-quality penetrating exterior wood finish (Leisurecraft recommends and stocks Livos exterior wood finishes) to clean, dry wood. Reapply when color begins to fade.

  • What to Avoid: Do not use bleach, chlorine, abrasive scouring pads, or high-pressure washers on cedar. Never place combustible materials near the heater.

Seasonal & Winter Care

  • Spring & Fall Checks: Inspect exterior cedar, roof flashing, hinges, handles, and door alignment. Ensure lower and upper vents are clear and unobstructed.

  • Winter Operations: Built to withstand harsh Canadian winters. Remove heavy snow accumulation from the standing seam metal roof and extended overhang. Keep the entryway, steps, and ventilation openings free of ice and snow. Never use sharp metal scrapers on cedar surfaces. Allow the interior to air out thoroughly after cold-weather sessions.

Materials
  • Eastern White Cedar Log Construction: Precision-milled from sustainable Canadian Eastern White Cedar sourced from certified mills in British Columbia and Ontario. Naturally resistant to decay, moisture, and insects without synthetic chemical treatments.

  • 2-3/4" Solid Interlocking Log Walls: Substantial double-groove solid log profile delivers structural stability, wind resistance, and thermal mass retention.

  • Commercial Standing Seam Metal Roof: Architectural black standing seam metal roofing with extended overhang shields the timbers from driving rain, heavy snow loads, and UV exposure.

  • 5 mm Bronze Tempered Architectural Glass: Heavy bronze tempered single-pane safety glass on the front window and door provides thermal shock resistance, natural daylighting, and exterior privacy.

  • Stainless Steel & Heavy Hardware: Fitted with heavy-duty structural fasteners, hinges, and exterior fittings designed for long-term outdoor exposure.

Shipping Rates & Service Areas

  • Contiguous United States: Free standard freight shipping is available for eligible saunas (minimum order $3,500) and outdoor furniture (minimum order $2,000).

  • Small Items & Accessories: Standalone accessory orders carry a flat shipping rate of $55.

  • Alaska, Hawaii & Remote Locations: Shipping is not covered under standard free freight; custom freight quotes are required prior to dispatch. Remote regions, limited-access routes, and island deliveries may incur additional carrier surcharges.

  • Cross-Border Clearance: Shipments originating from Canadian manufacturing facilities include all standard customs clearance and border handling.

Freight Delivery & Curbside Details

  • Curbside Delivery Only: Freight shipments are delivered strictly to the curbside or the end of your driveway via standard commercial freight carriers (typically 53-foot 18-wheel tractor-trailers). Drivers do not bring crates into driveways, backyards, or homes, nor do they assist with unpackaging or assembly.

  • Site Accessibility: Customers must verify that a full-sized 18-wheel semi-truck can legally and safely access the street, reach the property, and turn around.

  • Delivery Appointments: The freight carrier contacts the consignee prior to delivery to schedule an appointment window. A timely response is mandatory to prevent carrier holding penalties.

  • Delivery Delays & Storage Fees: If delivery is delayed due to an unresponsive recipient, inability to unload, or scheduling conflicts, terminal storage charges of $35 per day will be assessed and billed to the customer.

Unloading Responsibilities & Liftgate Policy

  • Crates 84 Inches or Shorter: Liftgate service is generally available to lower the crate from the truck bed to curbside level.

  • Crates Exceeding 84 Inches: Standard liftgates cannot accommodate crates over 7 feet long. Customers are solely responsible for offloading the crate from the truck bed.

  • Required Offloading Arrangements: For oversized crates, the customer must arrange one of the following prior to delivery:

    • A forklift or mechanical loader equipped with forklift fork extensions, lifting strictly from the crate end.

    • A local tilt flatbed tow-truck service to transfer the crate from the carrier's regional freight terminal to your driveway. (Factory-assisted tilt tow-truck arrangements incur a standard $1,450 fee).

    • A capable crew on-site to de-crate or lift components individually from the truck bed within the carrier’s allotted delivery window.

Delivery Address Changes

  • Prior to Dispatch: Address adjustments submitted before an order leaves the manufacturing facility are processed at no additional cost.

  • After Dispatch / In-Transit: Rerouting or altering the destination address once the crate has left the factory incurs a mandatory $350 carrier rerouting fee.

Damage, Shortages & Freight Return Protocol

  • Crate Inspection at Curbside: All packaging must be thoroughly inspected before signing carrier paperwork.

  • Visible Damage on Arrival: If external damage, crushed corners, or open packaging is observed, you must accept the delivery and write:

"Crate arrived open/damaged – Possible Hidden Damage" clearly on the driver’s Bill of Lading (BOL).

  • Reporting Window: Detailed photos of the packaging, labels, and all damaged parts must be submitted to customer support within 30 days of receipt to qualify for no-charge component replacements under the shipping warranty.

  • Unauthorized Refusals: Deliveries refused without written authorization will be classified as a rejected delivery. Refused shipments are subject to a 15% restocking fee plus all applicable return freight, storage, and reconsignment costs.
